Pendragon Gives 'The Gift of Christmas'

17TH DEC 2014

Christmas is a time for giving and this year Pendragon PLC, the UK's leading automotive retailer, teamed up with local councils to try and help those less fortunate over the festive period.

The 'Gift of Christmas' scheme gives team members the opportunity to buy a small gift for a child in crisis. Team members who want to take part are then supplied with a name and age range for the child.

Evans Halshaw Citroen in Mansfield supplied a van for the day and Santa's little Helpers went out delivering presents. After initially taking 50 names from Mansfield and Ashfield council, the Annesley-based events team began approaching other councils after almost 100 team members requested to take part. Some even requested to buy multiple gifts meaning they could extend the reach to other councils including Newark and Sherwood.

Trevor Finn, CEO of Pendragon PLC said:

"We've been totally overwhelmed by our generous team members who have really embraced the 'Gift of Christmas'. The office has been awash with gifts and people are already asking about next year. It's great to end the year on such a high."

Mansfield and Ashfield Councillor Mick Colley commented:

"We think it's fantastic that Pendragon have introduced the 'Gift of Christmas'. Staff at the Council work with many families who have found themselves in distressing situations throughout the year but Christmas is a particularly hard time as they can't always provide gifts for their children. We see first-hand how much it means when a child receives a gift that they weren't expecting and the team can take great comfort knowing they have really made a difference."
